BATIKS & WALL HANGINGS

All our Batiks are hand made using traditional Batik techniques using wax to seal in the colours when dying the different parts of the image.( More about Batik Process ) They are all produced on 100% cotton and are available in three different sizes. Most of the batiks that we stock are produced exclusively for SOMA by craftsmen based in New Delhi, so we can also offer custom made designs for wholesale / shop orders if needed in big quantities.

Since our attempt is to provide international exposure for traditional Indian handicrafts and design, we try not to influence the local artists in their choice of subjects for the batiks. As a result most of the batiks are of images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and other motifs/ symbols that have either a religious or geographical connection to the area they are made in.
